We are a group of local people who have come together to celebrate Loch Goil’ s indigenous natural world.

Our next Event

Foraging with a Gàidheal
in the Goil

Eileen MacDonald will be introducing us to the delights of Wild Foraging.

Thursday 20th February
6.30 pm Village Hall

Nationally Loch Goil has the exceptionally unusual distinction of being situated in the Lomond and Trossachs National Park with Loch Goil itself being a Marine Protected Area. There are species found in Loch Goil that are found nowhere else in the UK.  Whilst the flora and fauna of the area is enormously varied and abundant it is under pressure from habitat loss, pollution and invasive species.

We want to explore the fascinating wildlife that surrounds us from  the depths of Loch Goil to the tops of the mountains and everything in between, from the Loch Goil Sea Squirt to the carnivorous alpine plants, from the the Wild Atlantic Salmon that spawn in the River Goil to the Ancient Temperate Rainforests, from the rare bats, lichens and fungi to the Golden Eagles.

We plan to have a theme day every quarter on a different topic with a presentation first to the Loch Goil Primary school during the day and then to every one else in the evening at the Village Hall (with virtual attendance also).

We hope you will enjoy the talks and maybe become a member.

we're advocating on behalf of the more than human. The mountains, the rocks, the native woodlands, the wild fish, the red squirrels, the pine martens. There's a whole constituency of life here.
